As season two of the addictive Netflix series heats up, we sat down with Newton for a little Q&A session that revealed some surprising facts about the man behind the cravat. Prepare to be surprised, delighted, and maybe even a little bit smitten.
Remember Colin from season one? The affable, slightly naive third Bridgerton brother who got his heart tangled (and broken) by the scheming Marina Thompson? Well, he's back from his whirlwind European adventure, and this time, he's traded his wanderlust for a newfound focus (and maybe even a new love interest, but we'll get to that later!).
"I like to think Colin's as laid-back as I am," Newton shared, describing his connection to the character. "But I hope I'm not as easily manipulated as he can be."
But don't let that easygoing demeanor fool you; Colin is a man on a mission this season. He's determined to prove himself, to shed his reputation as the carefree youngest brother and carve out his own path in the world.
While Colin might prefer to spend his days indulging in lavish breakfasts and navigating the complex world of courting, Newton's life off-screen is a little more… well, let's just say, unexpected.
"People would be surprised to learn that I can tap dance!" Newton revealed with a mischievous grin. "I even earned the nickname 'Happy Feet' on my first acting job because I used to tap to keep warm."
But it's not all fancy footwork and theatrical flair for Newton. He also has a soft spot for animals, especially the newest addition to the "Bridgerton" cast: Newton, the Sharma family's adorable corgi.
"I love having a dog on set," Newton confessed. "It makes me feel like I'm at home."
However, even a royal pup like Newton can cause a little chaos behind the scenes.
"One time, there was a lot of barking during a scene," Newton recalled with a chuckle. "It turns out Newton was a very hungry boy and wouldn't stop barking for sausage bits until he was satisfied."
Beyond the glitz and glamour of "Bridgerton," Newton is a thoughtful and down-to-earth individual with a passion for his craft and a deep appreciation for the people who have shaped his life.
When asked about the most influential person in his life, Newton's answer was immediate and heartfelt: "My granddad. If I can be half as kind, considerate, and genuine as him, I'd be very happy indeed."
And for those aspiring actors out there, Newton offers this sage advice: "Be brave and strong-willed. Create your own opportunities, take every chance you get, and never stop believing in yourself.
