Matt Bomer is mourning the death of his White Collar costar Treat Williams, who died on Monday at the age of 71 after a motorcycle accident. Bomer paid tribute to Williams on Instagram, describing him as an "absolute treasure" and expressing his gratitude for having known him. Williams played Bomer's on-screen father in the police drama and made every day on set a joy, according to Bomer.

He praised Williams for his patience and kindness, and for always checking in on him even years after they worked together. Williams starred in White Collar as Sam Phelps, a former DC cop who is revealed to be Bomer's character Neal Caffrey's father. The show ran for six seasons from 2009 to 2014. Williams' death was confirmed by his agent, who described him as an "actor's actor" and a "talented" and "nice" person. Williams is survived by his wife, actress Pam Van Sant, and their two children.
