The 76th Emmy Awards brought its share of surprises, but none more shocking than the glaring absence of fan favorites like "Bridgerton" and "The Boys." While both shows enjoy massive popularity and critical acclaim, they were noticeably absent from this year's nominations list. So, what gives?
Timing, as they say, is everything – and in the case of "Bridgerton" and "The Boys," timing played a crucial role in their Emmy snubs.
Season 3 of "Bridgerton," the Regency-era romance that set hearts aflutter, dropped on Netflix in two parts – May 16th and June 13th. While this strategy might keep fans glued to their screens, it created a logistical nightmare for Emmy consideration. Only the first part of the season aired before the May 31st eligibility cutoff, potentially splitting the season's impact and diluting its chances for a nomination.
"The Boys," the superhero satire known for its over-the-top action and biting social commentary, faced a similar dilemma. Season 4 premiered on June 13th, missing the Emmy deadline entirely. Despite its devoted fanbase and critical buzz, "The Boys" was simply ineligible for this year's awards.
However, release dates only tell part of the story.
