Gauff suffers shock second-round exit in Stuttgart
Teenage tennis sensation Coco Gauff suffered a shock straight-sets defeat to Anastasia Potapova to crash out of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart.
The 19-year-old, who reached the final of the French Open last year, will have been hoping for a deeper run in Stuttgart to start her clay-court season but was convincingly beaten 6-2 6-3 by Potapova.
It was the fifth-seeeded American's first tournament since she split with coach Diego Moyano, citing personal reasons on Moyano's part.
Potapova, ranked 24th in the world, saved six break points on her own serve and converted three of 13 in Gauff's service games.
