Lionel Messi and his wife Antonela Roccuzzo attended the 2023 Laureus World Sports Awards in Paris. Messi won both the Sportsman of the Year award and the Team of the Year honour with Argentina's men's football team. Other winners included Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce for Sportswoman of the Year, Christian Eriksen for Comeback of the Year, Carlos Alcaraz for World Breakthrough of the Year, Catherine Debrunner for Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability, and Eileen Gu for Action Sportsperson of the Year.
The Laureus Sport for Good award went to TeamUp, a programme for children displaced by war established by Robert Lewandowski. The ceremony was attended by some of the biggest names in sports.
