A Little Soul Lost on the Sidewalk

One chilly morning, as I was walking to work, I stumbled upon a sight that instantly broke my heart. There, huddled against the cold concrete on the side of a busy road, was a small puppy, alone and visibly frightened. His tiny, fluffy body was curled tightly, as if he was trying to disappear into himself, away from the chaos around him. With cars zooming past and pedestrians barely noticing, it was as if he were invisible to the world.

But not to me.

An Unexpected Encounter

The puppy didn’t make a sound when I approached; he just looked up with the biggest, roundest eyes I’d ever seen. There was something in his gaze—a mix of fear and hope—that struck a chord deep inside. He was obviously too young to be out on his own, with a slight shiver running through his little body. I crouched down, speaking softly, “Hey there, buddy. Where’s your family?” He just looked at me, and somehow, I knew he had been abandoned.

The thought made my heart ache.

A Decision Made in a Heartbeat

As I stood there, I could feel people glancing over but quickly moving along. Most were too busy to stop. I couldn’t bear to leave him there, scared and alone.
