Recently, while promoting his new film "Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre," Guy Ritchie provided some insight into the delay. Ritchie, who directed the first two Sherlock Holmes films, explained, "Well, honestly, I left this up to Robert [Downey Jr.]. So Robert wanted to be in charge of this. The ball's in his court, so he's in charge of the script, he's in charge of the whole thing. I've moonwalked out of that until there's a time for me to get involved." It seems Downey Jr.
Robert Downey Jr.’s Commitment
One major reason for the delay is Robert Downey Jr.'s busy schedule, particularly his involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Iron Man. With his Marvel commitments now concluded, there is renewed hope that "Sherlock Holmes 3" will finally move forward.
